Cannabis Tax Revenue is Double Alcohol Revenue


In an April 2022 research study conducted by The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) compiled the data that found an average 20% higher revenue from legal cannabis sales across the US over alcohol during 2021.  In California, the revenue was higher, much higher, it added up to being over double in collected excise tax in the amount of $832M from legal cannabis compared to $415M from alcohol excise tax collected.
